Events Held at the Fortified Bedford House

The Bedford Tea Party ~ 16 December 2023

The Friends of the Fortified Bedford House held a celebration to commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the Boston Tea Party.

The Bedford Tea Party was held on the evening of 16 December 2023. It was held in the log center section (named the Sacred Space) of the Fortified Bedford House. The event was attended by fifteen persons: Board members of the Friends of the Fortified Bedford House and employees of Peppercorn Market and guests. A variety of finger foods was eaten by the attendees.

A narrative of the Boston Tea Party in 1773 was included in Benson J. Lossing's Pictorial Field Book of the Revolution. The narrative was read by Larry D. Smith. A quiz-contest about the history of the Fortified Bedford House was conducted by Tyna Walker-Lay and Larry Smith.

The brochure for the event included a short biography of Thomas White, a participant in the Boston Tea Party who later moved to homestead in Bedford County after the war.
